In the previous period I wrote mostly book reviews (but of some really great books ), yet I cannot remember when the last time was that I wrote of birding itself? Perhaps in my December posts on birding Colombian Amazonia ? Driving with open windows (to hear the birds) becomes unbearable and I am heading out of this fish farm.

The most sought after bird in the Bilsa Research station is the Banded Ground-Cuckoo which was the focus of a research project in which this bird had a radio installed and later successfully nested and produced chicks. Although we did not hear or see this bird we saw many other great birds that live in this marvelous reserve.

These younger rams were having a great time playing “king of the rock” So much for the history of the area, lets talk about the birds! With water, comes birds, so I set off in search. This is also one of the best birding hot spots on the mountain. It is in this meadow that a natural hot spring comes to the surface.
