After spending the weekend along the South Carolina coast, I can say with confidence that I saw dozens and dozens of South Carolina’s state bird: both the original and the current version. Though South Carolina first chose the Northern Mockingbird as its state bird, in 1948 the general assembly changed its mind. Absolutely!
