A quick study as I researched this post revealed that fully 37 Arizonan “specialties” are common birds right here where I live. So the only Patagonia I would choose to visit in the future, is the Patagonia to be found at the southern end of South America. Consider the striking Berylline Hummingbird. But this one did.

Ringer Proposition 491, recently submitted to the American Ornithologists’ Union South American Classification Committee (SACC), bears the esoteric title “ Change linear sequence of orders for Falconiformes, Psittaciformes, and Cariamiformes.&# I think this proposal has a good shot at passing, at least in South America.
