I saw two Pitta species at Hongbenghe, both among the slightly less glamourous among the pitta family: The Blue-naped Pitta … … and the closely related Rusty-naped Pitta. The White-rumped Shama is a South Asia species – consequently, the HBW mostly discusses its introduced population in Hawaii.

They argue about whether a bird counts, or doesn’t, or whether Hawaii should be part of the ABA, or not. (It I’m going through this right now, as I am planning a holiday for my entire family to Borneo. You may be outraged by the suggestion, but let’s face it, birders love not birding. It should, by the way).
