They look crap but presumably offer some protection for the chicks, though not from each other (see the murderous activities within the nests in my previous post ). The book “Raptors of the World” describes it as a “sluggish-looking” bird, which strikes me as a bit weird for a raptor.

camera, laptop, book and a snack. They have great arch support and toe protection and are great for hiking. The hand warmers in my pocket not only were relief for my fingers but kept my batteries in my camera a little warmer too, extending their life. My carry on will always have my scope (1.) binoculars (2.), Hats are a must.
