Little Big Year-Week 37: Settling down in Tucson AZ

A Blue-throated Hummingbird just flew right past us, and over to one of the feeders. When the Coopers Hawk blew thru the yard looking for a meal, it just froze, and stayed right there for nearly 5 minutes, plenty of time for me to approach, and get this picture. That is our 5th wheel on the right corner. 1 Gila Woodpecker.

In responding to Suzie’s post defending wildlife rehabilitation I began to think again about the areas in which animal rights and animal welfare overlap with the field of conservation, and the ways in which they don’t. Animal rights is concerned with preventing the suffering or even use of animals by humans.
