I was shocked when I saw a hen Mallard actually incubating eggs in one of these things–they do work…and how do the mallards get in there? I saw this at Bear River Migratory Refuge in Utah. This rookery also housed nesting Barn Owls (not the bird box on the lower half of the pole on the far right).
