Wallaby seeks shelter beside an excavator. Our first delay was one of the many iron ore trains that transport the ore to the coast from inland. There were 6 Royal Spoonbills and numerous Hardhead and Pacific Black Ducks. These trains are over 2kms (1 mile) long and over 200 carriages, so we had quite a long wait at the track!

Winter in Albert Park, Melbourne

It remains a good location for observing birds close to the city and easily accessible by public transport. The distance around the lake is approximately five kilometres and there are limited places to shelter if a storm approaches fast. Some of the sheltered areas were being used by the Chestnut Teal as a roost.
