Monk Parakeet is the only parrot species that builds its own nest. Some articles speculate that the nests offer protection against the cold. So, I flew to Chicago, where my daughter directed me to Washington Park in New Hyde Park, the area of Chicago where the University is located. The answer lies in the nests.
