Six members of Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty were convicted at a 2006 trial in New Jersey of conspiracy to violate the 1992 Animal Enterprise Protection Act. Observation towers and canopy walkways were initially built to help study the plant and animal life in the forest canopy, which is impossible to study from the forest floor.
