The vet did give me a hard time about the dogs' animal-free diets (my traditional vets don't, ironically), and my response was that unless she could show me some research that his particular type of injury needs animal protein to heal, I wasn't going to change anything. been there. My poor boy. Wish him luck!

She said her Trapper Man could go to the Project Treadstone site--last night and this morning--and trap up to 10 cats that she would bring to Pahokee. However, she does have people who can help, and now that Pahokee's open they will focus some time each week on Project Treadstone!

A branch of Palm Beach County's Animal Care & Control that has been closed for a long, long time and has reopened. Here's the biggest feral cat I've ever seen, who looks like somebody's house cat. And what's a week at Project Treadstone without the obligatory black cat. What's in Pahokee you ask?

Project Treadstone If anyone in Palm Beach County wants to get involved in the Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) of feral cats, now is the time, as the county's Spay Shuttle is back in business (but for a whopping $40/cat rather than the original $15), and Pahokee ($25/cat) is open as well. Stephanie posted the first of a series of guest posts by yours truly about TNR and Project Treadstone over at her immensely popular site at Change.org. Speaking of Project Treadstone, Powder Puff, seen below, died over the weekend. My only hope is that other kitties at Project Treadstone aren't suffering someplace hidden.

From the feral cats of Project Treadstone to Charles' back surgery to problems with Violet's Vetsulin (insulin for dogs), we had more than our share of issues. It's almost twice the cost, but it's not animal-based, she has no adverse reaction and there are no warnings about the quality. What a relief!
