Portugal Deals with Same Issues Around Dogfighting

This link is to ANIMAL's blog , written in Portuguese. There are dog fights and dog attacks in Portugal and, per the December 5 post , the government came up with some legislation without consulting any animal rights groups. ANIMAL says that the legislation is not effective and is too loose. I'm pretty shocked about that.

Did some kind of animal eat the tulips and spread them in its droppings? When he returned to Portugal in disgrace after usurping his position from the rightful governor, Sampayo supposedly took tulip bulbs with him from Sri Lanka. Despite our short stay I was intrigued by the tulips and wondered how they had all ended up on the steppe.

Around this time of the year, the first few waders are back in Shanghai from their breeding grounds far further up north. Generally, being back here early is not a very good sign – it may indicate a failed breeding attempt, as suggested for Asian Dowitchers in a paper on their presence in Lianyungang somewhat further north of Shanghai.
