I work, volunteer, take classes sometimes, run a household and care for five animals and a husband, so I'm not as involved in the blog community as I wish I could be. However, I certainly tried to read Stephanie Ernst's posts at Change.org's Animal Rights blog. If they'd kept the name, I may have kept following.

I will conclude with some remarks about the rights of animals. When it is asked whether animals have rights, and whether human beings have duties to them, the question, I think, is partly moral and partly verbal. It is this latter view, I believe, that is in the minds of some of those who deny that animals have rights.

The class-action lawsuit accuses companies of slaughtering thousands of cows just to decrease supply. Animal rights group Compassion Over Killing was the first to uncover the alleged systematic slaughter of healthy dairy cows in California.

I printed pages of information about petting zoos from the Internet, mostly about health risks but also about animal treatment. Of course none of them come close to the most important reason for my objection: that we have no right to use animals for entertainment or other reasons that are not necessary. That depends.

Ian says, regarding " Veterinarians Train Sealers to Kill Humanely, " that "veterinarians very often do not care about animals but rather are more like auto mechanics who are providing a service for humans (that service may be to save an animal or kill an animal, etc)." There is an elephant who deperately needs our help.
