I was browsing for some quotes when I came across this group - The National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA). They had a page with quotes from animal rights activists, but as I was reading, I noticed that they were very unfavorable quotes from such activists as Wayne Pacelle and Ingrid Newkirk. Who are these guys?

City Fauna and another animal welfare charity named Ehida brought around 40 pets from their shelters to the park on Sunday in an attempt to re-home them. They also put up a tent to collect donations, such as pet food, cages, collars and other pet supplies, for stray and abandoned animals kept at the shelters.

MEXICO CITY – Animal rights activists staged a protest against the sale of pets in Mexico City, urging residents to adopt dogs and other animals instead of buying them. The protest’s goal was to make “society aware” of the fact that animals “need time, love and lots of care,” AnimaNaturalis said.

Also at Parade , which reader morganna alerted me to, is " Should Apes Be Allowed as Pets? He also notes that evidence that welfarism is misguided is that even the sealers are for it. I've had the pleasure of seeing her in action with adults and children and I profoundly admire her vegan education and animal rights activism.
