Apparently, Bubbles is now 26 years old and living at an animal sanctuary. Chimpanzees, like Travis the chimp who mauled the woman in Connecticut, are not meant to be family pets. As a vegan, part of what I believe is that bringing animals onto this planet to use them as food or as pets isn't ethical. The concept of creating when you can adopt is the same with people and animals, yes, but desiring and creating an animal as a pet isn't exactly the same when you unpack it all.
