In " 'Animal Rights:' Pernicious Nonsense for Both Law & Public Policy ," Massachusetts attorney and "sportsman" Richard Latimer is on the mark with some concepts, and way off with others. Now, I know you're saying: That's not what animal rights is. For an attorney, that's awfully weak.

I credit Will Potter as the catalyst for shifting my focus away from critiques of other activists and activist groups (particularly his post, " While the Government Continues Attacks on Activists, Animal Rights Groups Protest Each Other " back in 2008). I'm not saying that criticism of PETA, or any other group, isn't warranted.

And in retrospect, all that did was present me as someone who appeared to have a need to be different or special, and a need for everyone to know what I believed in, whether or not they even cared. Lesson #20 We still don't know what will make a critical mass of people go vegan. Lesson #17 Treat your blog like a business.

Brief commentary follows this e-mail I received regarding greyhounds, animal rights and Ireland. We're simply asking you for just a couple of hour to help greyhounds in serious trouble right now. Need reminding why cruelty to animals is wrong? I assume a nature and nurture view of things rather than one or the other.)

One argument is this: The present practice of treating animals used for food is immoral and should be changed. So, if one wants to change the present practice, the best means is to stop eating meat. First, it is dubious that becoming a vegetarian would have much effect on present practice. causing a decline in U.S.
