The Albuquerque Journal reported in a copyright story Friday that the National Institutes of Health informed Gov. Bill Richardson on Thursday the chimps will not be transferred to a San Antonio, Texas, facility until the National Academy of Sciences reviews policies on using chimpanzees in biomedical research.

I particularly question the use of chimpanzees in medical research. I recently was escorted through a large primate research laboratory by its director. The director informed me that not only spit is apt to fly in such a situation; and at his urging we retreated. The following is from The Dragons of Eden by Carl Sagan.
