EPA Wants to Rely Less on Animal Testing

It's not a move based on compassion, but efficiency. Environmental Protection Agency is reducing its reliance on animal testing to assess human risk of chemical toxicity and will instead focus more heavily on the tools made possible by advances in molecular biology, genomics and computational modeling.

A Trip to an Animal Lab

There was a poster in the lunch room with four cute animals (a dog, cat, rabbit and something else.) It reminded me of an adoption poster at the animal shelter. But when I got closer, I read, "Animal research opens minds." It certainly doesn't fill me with confidence in these people's skills in compassion and humane care.
