Animal Welfare Act Inadequate for Farm Animals

No wonder there is so much "farm" animal abuse out there. The only cool thing is that Gene Bauer's views on the meat industry are so similar to those expressed on this blog a few weeks ago. Humane treatment runs counter to the entire industry when the point is to make money by processing these animals as fast as possible.

To the Editor: As sponsors of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act , we take issue with Christa Weil’s views on the horsemeat industry ( Op-Ed , March 5). The horse slaughter industry in the United States has nothing to do with feeding hungry people and everything to do with animal cruelty.
