Animal Welfare Act Inadequate for Farm Animals

The only cool thing is that Gene Bauer's views on the meat industry are so similar to those expressed on this blog a few weeks ago. Humane treatment runs counter to the entire industry when the point is to make money by processing these animals as fast as possible. No wonder there is so much "farm" animal abuse out there.

I don't know how seriously to take this, or if it's just the ag industry pulling an NRA stunt (ie. It would require farms or ranches with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs to pay an annual fee of about $175 for each dairy cow, $87.50 per head of beef cattle and $20 for each hog. Gimme, gimme, gimme!
