They nest in palms, and we found a small area where we observed several couples investigating and preparing nest holes. The Zapata Swamp, Ciénaga de Zapata , is of course known for the three birds that bear it’s name: the Zapata Rail, the Zapata Wren, and the Zapata Sparrow. I took a brief, wobbly, video of the process.
