There was a bounty on them in Alaska from 1917 until 1952—up to $2 a head! In my home state, Bald Eagles are breeding in 35 Ohio counties. People who protest our proposed hunt are trying to strip rights from the hunting public. Bald Eagles were nearly exterminated from the Lower 48 by the mid 1970’s. young per year.

of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered. Kills in Canada, Alaska and Mexico are not included in the count. Kentucky Dept. Additionally, sandhill cranes reproduce very slowly.

In Alaska, they were found to mimic 30 different species ( source ). Maybe they have decided to boycott species with Russian-sounding names as a way to protest against Putin’s policies. Anyway, the male is quite stunning with its black head, while it is often said of the female that it has a beautiful soul.
