And that relationship usually has something to do with PeTA. But I don't want to talk about PeTA. A recent post by Sara Krupp (" Can Animal Activism Go Too Far? ") unfortunately equates "animal activism" with PeTA, I noticed. Weighing the Impact At some level, PETA’s tactics have worked. They've hijacked enough already!

And it's especially the case in animal rights advocacy. Many people say that PETA relies too heavily on emotion to argue its position. Others say that emotion is the only way to move humans to care about anything other than themselves. The combination is a powerful weapon for advocacy. I'm really torn.

Over at Animal Rights and AntiOppression , we’ve been discussing tactics and sharing our thoughts and experiences about what works and doesn’t work when it comes to advocacy. The bottom line is that there are many reasons why human-animal interactions are so often inconsistent and paradoxical. Of course that can be debated.

To the Editor: Re “ Humanity Even for Nonhumans ,” by Nicholas D. If human beings were confined, mutilated and killed, would we call it “humane” if the cages were a few inches bigger, the knife sharper, the death faster? Animals rescued from so-called humane farming establishments have been found in horrific condition.
