And Adoption Awareness Month. I am a vegan who has adopted a diabetic greyhound who eats vegan food ( Natural Balance ), and who is adopting a boy from Russia. Not everyone is able to adopt for financial reasons (or have a child for biological reasons), and I don't think it's unethical to desire and create a biological child.

As for Project Treadstone, there have been three fatalities-by-automobile and one litter of three kittens, two of whom were caught and adopted fairly early. Finally, I was asked to participate in a new TNR group in my town that started largely because of my oodles of questions and setting of policy for Project Treadstone!

I rescue, I adopt, I do TNR, and I connect others to resources to do the same. And I can't fulfill my purpose if I'm a mess and I've lost my ability to be effective. So I take care of myself. And part of meeting my own needs, by the way, is the need to care for animals who have been discarded.

I have mixed feelings about TNR. “Why can’t the kittens be adopted,” I asked in her comments section. Case in point: some of my family members have become active with feral cat colony organizations. On the one hand, it’s better than doing nothing with a feral cat colony.
