Portuguese City Tries to End Killing of Strays

Under Portuguese legislation, stray and unwanted animals that are kept in municipal kennels, even healthy ones, can be put down after eight days if unclaimed. Tags: animal shelters portugal strays. The majority of these animals are unwanted dogs, removed from the streets by municipal services or dropped off by members of the public.

They are pioneering legislation in California to make public animal abuse registries. Through its campaign, www.ExposeAnimalAbusers.org , the animal protection organization is promoting model legislation that state legislatures could enact. I recently got an email from the Animal Legal Defense Fund. His whereabouts are unknown.
