A parent bird’s instinct to feed and protect their young is very strong, and they will not willingly abandon their babies. Ok, so you’ve rescued a bird. It is illegal to keep a wild bird. Unfortunately a bird’s nest location is not always perfect. Putting a baby bird back in its nest is not always the right thing to do.

If it is an emergency and since I get calls and texts from all over the country (even a few out of the country), I direct people to Rehabber Search or Wildlife Rehabber. It’s illegal to raise wild birds (even orphaned ones) without state and federal permits. Try to get it too another family group or contact a wildlife rehabber.
