Black-vented Shearwater can be abundant in southern California waters some years, as they have 2013-2014. McDonald Road, south end of the Salton Sea, CA. Late fall trips frequently turn up Short-tailed Shearwater , Black-legged Kittiwake and Ancient Murrelet. Good year-round (winter trips are few and far between, however).
