Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) told ESI that there were an “unusually high number of occupied golden eagle nests” and that the facility should not be built at the proposed location. As a result, “[s]ince 2012, there were at least 150 documented eagle deaths at 50 of defendant’s 154 wind power facilities in the United States.

At that point I didn’t know about 10,000 Birds; I had been a wildlife rehabilitator and mother for years, with no time to surf the net for amazing birding sites. I was used to photos shared by rehabbers – gory wounds, wince-inducing x-rays, fledglings with terrible feathering thanks to uninformed “rescuers.” I was floored!

Several artificial waterholes that have been placed along these riverbeds are a magnet for wildlife and Leeudril is one such location. At 8am on Tuesday 30th August 2012, we arrived at Leeudril after leaving nearby Tweerivieren camp and were thrilled to spot a young female Leopard next to the water tank.
