To the Editor: Re “ Hooked on Meat ,” by Mark Bittman (column, June 2): The other day, I asked the manager of our local chain grocery store why we were offered only Peruvian asparagus in the springtime. Why do we eat so much meat? June 6, 2011 The writer is the author of “ Honest Eating.” Why eat produce that has no flavor?
