5, 2009 To the Editor: I ate my last hamburger last night. It’s a terrible but ultimately not surprising tale, given the continued lack of self-regulation and the emphasis on profit over safety in the meat industry. Only then will these companies “do the right thing,” if only to ensure their continued survival.
