Well, basically it is a good area for putting a nest as there is ample food nearby and the dunes offer protection and good views of incoming predators. In 2009 they laid two clutches of two eggs, but they were all predated. Here are some of the experiences of the Pied Oystercatcher chick on Cable Beach in the last 4 weeks.

The world record 734 Long-eared Owls were counted here in December 2009, in the pines and spruces, lime, chestnut and nettle trees lining the central square by the orthodox church in Kikinda. Rightfully, this town centre doubles as a nature reserve – an officially protected owl habitat. Still, irresistibly adorable, nevertheless.
