The Swallow-tailed Kites in Florida Are Now Heading South…

In about a week after the last count, no kite will be seen at or near the roost (Meyer 2004). Of all migratory birds breeding in North America, Swallow-tailed Kites are among the first to leave for the wintering grounds. The local kites at this time of the year are about to start breeding. This is not the case.

Specifically, the notice summarizes the long history of Hawaiian Goose conservation, including written recovery plans in 1983 and 2004 , implementation of those plans, and research, including a population viability analysis.
