Another near-endemic, shared only with tiny Lesotho and Swaziland is the bizarre Southern Bald Ibis. My final bird for this post is another of my favorites, the Ground Woodpecker. This is the largest of South Africa’s woodpeckers, and in appearance and behavior it is completely different to other members of its family.
