The final species tally for the four day blitz was 186 ABA-countable species, an impressive total in winter for any location in the United States. Although they breed on the west coast of Florida, Snowy Plover is a rare stray to this part of the state. This Lincoln’s Sparrow is far more common.

COVID-19 was the worst of it but we also endured horrific wildfires, tremendously damaging hurricanes, another year of the worst President of the United States in history, and the list could go on ad infinitum. 2020 will be remembered as a year that we’d like to forget. I saw the Cuckoo the second day of its visit.
