So it was almost out of a sense of duty that the group of birders parked the bus at urban Telocote Park and unloaded to walk along the concrete viaduct in search of these unwanted, but still desired, birds. once could conceivably make the argument about House Sparrows too, but I think they’ve worn out their welcome.

Even before we entered the park we had seen Black-naped Orioles , Tree Sparrows , Large-billed Crow , Javan Myna, Orange-bellied Flowerpecker, Olive-backed Sunbird and an Oriental Dollarbird. From Bishan MRT Station it is only 100 metres to the entrance of Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park where we could follow the trails.

I got myself 4 lifers ( Least Flycatcher , Eastern Bluebird , Field Sparrow, and Indigo Bunting ) before a downpour ended the excursion. For longer trips or holidays I bring my other pair , but for business travel the weight becomes bothersome and the price tag may attract unwanted attention.
