Both states were new to me in terms of eBird, so I had never visited Bombay Hook NWR , which made my list of the Top 25 NWRs for Birding. For example, in terms of lifers, my most productive trip was to the U.S. Virgin Islands in July 2012 , which was our honeymoon. Our tenth anniversary is later this month.)

A number of these NWRs appear on my list of the Top 25 NWRs for Birding.). For example, Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico is renowned for its winter birding, featuring huge numbers of Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese, among others. In particular, the Friends of Bosque del Apache NWR hosts Festival of the Cranes each November.
