A great-great nephew of Senator McLean, Greeley spent three years researching and writing this book.

Scientific research shows that many animals are very intelligent and have sensory and motor abilities that dwarf ours. More research is needed, but initial studies by the Pine Street Foundation and others on using dogs for diagnosis are promising. They get much of their food using tools, and they do this better than chimpanzees.
