On "Knockout Animals"

Now, any medication we take and surgical procedures we undergo also have a long line of breeding, enslavement, torture and killing of sentient nonhumans leading up to them, so objecting to "knockout animals" on those grounds is to stand on somewhat thin ice. Like when they're about to be, say, slaughtered? This is where I'm confused.
