I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. He always refers to himself and his wife and his child as "vegetarian."

Are we pinning people down and force-feeding them vegan burritos? In his fresh and candid first post (available here ), Jonathan admitted that he is struggling with the issue of ethical vegetarianism. You don't find many hunters who candidly and unapologetically say: "I hunt because I like to kill. Hunting wouldn't be the "noble," "manly" "sport" that it is, if these were the reasons for doing it.
