Another item they feed on is hunting edible bird nest swiftlets, which are quite common in edible swiftlet houses in Sabah, Malaysia ( source ). The first attempt in hunting was made by the male hornbill which was seen snapping at a passing swiftlet, but was unsuccessful.

In fact, should anything smaller than an elephant seal wander into the territory it will be rewarded not only with copious amounts of warm milky guano but a thorough battering. Some gulls are particularly good at hunting the Ashy Storm-petrel, a species which also has its stronghold on this island.
