The Little Big Year – Week 43: Last minute trip to Texas

Well, that’s just not really our style, so at the very last minute, we rented a high gas mileage car, thru a few things in a cooler, and our birding gear and headed for south Texas. We left Tucson on Monday, and drove to Alpine, Texas for our first night. Once we were checked in, we headed straight out to begin our hunt.

Little Big Year – Week 35: Route 66, Tucumcari and The Albuquerque area

After our brief trip thru the great state of Texas, we were headed back into New Mexico, a state I was quite excited to explore. American Kestrels, Cooper Hawks , and Northern Harriers also found the hunting here to their liking. This did open up the area to a few new species, like this Wilson’s Warbler. US species – 234.
