I love leopards. Lions hunt in prides. They don’t have to be ambush, precision hunters because there’s multiple of them. Tigers are solitary hunters. Tigers are an underrated big cat. There, I said it. Listen, I love lions. I love cheetahs. I love all the big cats, ok? But tigers get no respect. Blending in? That’s all.

The forests are home to Kalij Pheasants , Crested Tree Swifts , Ashy Wood Swallows , owlets, woodpeckers, spider hunters, barbets and bulbuls, laughingthrushes and hornbills. Once the private hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Bharatpur, this fabulous wetland gave us a list of over ninety species in a very relaxed day on a recent trip!

It took most of the rest of the day, but finally at around 5 we found the pack literally on the southern fenceline of the reserve, deep inside the hunting concession that made up the bottom of the park. It was Falakhe, who had dragged himself twenty kilometers on two broken legs past Hyaenas, Lions, Leopards and jackals.
