There was a lot of hunting for Bald Eagles—it is traditionally a game species. The Bald Eagle has the potential to be the Holy Grail of game birds. We need to give hunters new opportunities to hunt. People who protest our proposed hunt are trying to strip rights from the hunting public. We’ve always hunted Bald Eagles.

The eating of non-grain-eating animals, e.g., fish and wild game, is morally permissible on this view. For example, protesting the government’s food policies by wearing buttons, putting ads in the New York Times , or writing one’s congressman would seem to have greater educational value than not eating meat (question 2).
