Regarding Kakariki

The kakariki are an odd group of parakeets, particularly in terms of their distribution. Compared to that of say the Collared Kingfisher , for example, it would hardly raise an eyebrow. Incidentally the two genera form a sister clade to another Pacific genus, Prospeia , the shining-parrots, a gorgeous trio of parrots endemic to Fiji.
