This is the home of the Rusty-naped Pitta , admittedly one of the less glamorous of the family, particularly the subspecies found in Yunnan, but still a nice sight and still a pitta. In Singapore, the White-crested Laughingthrush is widespread despite not being native and has some characteristics of an invasive species ( source ).

One proposed explanation by the researchers for this phenomenon is that similar-looking birds reduce their risk of predation, as predators find it more difficult to focus on and isolate a single target. That species is apparently at risk of extinction in Singapore – not because it is so rare, but because its genetic diversity is so low.
