Starting with Casey and Arrow, our keepers in the woods, our family would keep cats and dogs. When he went outside to investigate, he saw a dusty troupe of mottled, almost camouflaged, puppies rolling in the sand, all presided over by a serious, sleek, dark presence—their mother. Growing up, we always had animals.

It was pretty awesome to see so many tuskers, as well as families of elephants safe in their special park. A pair of last year’s puppies playing with an old skin. The superabundance of lions and elephants in the park meant that straying on foot beyond the confines of our fenced enclosure was foolhardy, dangerous and forbidden.

This case has strongly fascinated the publicity, which led to publishing the book about this awkward family – Tiger-Pups. Fortunately, this task successfully was performed by shepherd Gerry: she took care of little lions for two months, making no distinction between them and her puppies.

As is quite apparent from the video, whether you have a dog, cat, horse or rabbit they quickly become a big part of the family regardless of their size. Veterinary fee’s can run into the hundreds of pounds if not thousands and with many families struggling to make ends meet as it is, some are left with little option but to put their pet down.
