A family motel and passion for responsible ecotourism brought her home to the Oregon Coast where she and her husband, Erik, adventure and record a podcast ( Hannah and Erik Go Birding ), created in an effort to inspire others to get out and bird. The cats were eradicated by 1991, which left the mice population to go unchecked.

I was vaguely curious about the family name mousebird. One being that the name is based on the bird’s soft feathers with a texture similar to a mouse’s fur. Another website – apparently one for kids – claims that they get their name from the way they scurry along like mice.
