One such surprising experience happened with grouse. I daresay Fred wanted to do the hike more than we did but being kids before the digital age, we were always game for outdoor adventures. In keeping with gamebird tradition, my first experience with grouse wasn’t one of a bird on a branch or something singing from a tree.
