The capital is San Juan, an important center of Caribbean culture and transportation. But other species have not been recorded in the ABA Area, including, of course, all 16 Puerto Rican endemics. Moreover, invasive species have impacted much of what remains. Obviously, hurricanes pose a threat to some species.
