On the other hand, their preferred food is blood, and they also feed on it directly, pecking at a mammal’s wounds to keep them open ( source ). On this trip, this forced me to participate in a side trip to the nearby Tembe Elephant Park. Mostly just oversized grey mammals there, not too many birds.
